Contested & Uncontested Divorce

New Jersey Uncontested Divorce Lawyers

To avoid expensive litigation, a couple may choose to work out the terms of a divorce together rather than in an adversarial manner. This is more common for couples who have relatively few assets and/or no children. When people are able to reach an agreement on all issues, they may file an uncontested divorce.  At Kingston Law Group, we have experience with uncontested and contested divorce proceedings in New Jersey. Our goal is to help clients move from a contested divorce to an uncontested divorce. We typically begin with negotiation or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to allow the couple to reach an agreement that they create, rather than hand the decision to a judge. A Lawyer Should Review Your Agreement

We can help you meet the legal requirements of uncontested divorce, including agreement on the terms of:

If you and your spouse reach an agreement on these issues, we can review the agreement, draft the divorce documents and file them with the court. In some counties, parties in an uncontested divorce do not have to go to court themselves. We will let you know if we can take care of the divorce on your behalf.

“You and Keith Hofmann both worked through the complexities of the divorce in a professional, personable and highly effective manner, and the advice you provided along the way was invaluable. It was a pleasure to work with you and your office staff.” – Karen

We do not recommend trying to get through the entire divorce process without the counsel of a lawyer. When people do not work with an attorney, the divorce documents often fail to meet the statutory legal requirements and/or fail to address all of the issues properly. You may spend more money having an attorney fix faulty divorce documents than you would if you had worked with a lawyer from the start.
