New Jersey Suit Says Chamber of Commerce Employee Was Harassed
A 52-year-old New Jersey woman has brought a serious claim against several individuals. Her suit stems from sexual harassment she says endured while she was the vice president for business development, a position she held with the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. According to her suit, she was harassed as well as underpaid.
One individual named in her lawsuit worked for the chamber until 2010 when he was fired. His termination had nothing to do with her suit, but he now works for the governor. One of the individuals accused by the 52-year-old is the 2001 state governor, whom she says harassed her on two separate occasions.
According to her, she was not paid as well as her male peers, she endured several cases of sexual harassment and subsequently developed depression, hypertension, headaches and anxiety. The conditions she had obtained even forced her to take disability leave.
The working environment with the Chamber of Commerce, according to the lawsuit, was often infused with alcohol. She says many of the men involved in her suit and others who worked there would go out to a local restaurant in Trenton, New Jersey for lunch and come back intoxicated. She even says one individual asked her for the cup size she wears in regards to her bra.
The accusations within her suit are strong. If it is proven that she was subjected to this ill behavior, she may receive compensation for lost wages, lost benefits, attorney fees, pain and suffering.
