“If I did not take aggressive action [through Hanan M Isaacs], I would most likely be out of a job. People of color cannot live in fear of racism. If I have a problem, you will be the first to know about it. Thank you for empowering me!” – Billy
Federal and New Jersey Laws Against Discrimination
Under federal law, Title VII protects employees from racial discrimination. New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination (LAD) provides further protections to those who are victims of race discrimination at work. These laws allow victims of discrimination at work to seek compensation for their economic and emotional losses.
Before taking your employer to court, however, the first step in any discrimination case is to file a complaint with your employer or with HR. If the situation cannot be resolved, speak with an attorney at Kingston Law Group about your legal options. We can explain your legal options and how we can help you through this process. Our attorneys have handled race discrimination cases at every level, including before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR), state and federal trial courts, and appellate tribunals.
