Compassionate Counsel. Tough Advocacy.

“Compassionate Counsel. Tough Advocacy.”  This is the Kingston Law Group brand. It is how we think about our craft and it guides what we do.

“Compassionate counsel” means we embrace our clients for who they are.  We urge them to face and address complex problems, sometimes with help from other professionals: financial advice, therapeutic advice, and more.  We are lawyers, yet that does not stop us from seeing the whole human being in front of us.  Your legal challenges always take place in a context, and we strive to understand – and help you understand – what that context is and how to change it if it needs to change.  Many people require strong assistance to overcome their challenges and issues.  Good lawyering is often helpful and useful, but it may not be enough.  We understand “it takes a village” to get our clients to a more successful place.  At Kingston Law Group, our goal is for you to reach your top functioning, at home, at work, and in the community.  Winning a legal battle may be important to you, yet it also may not be enough to get you to your life goals.  Where you go, of course, is up to you.  We do not force anything on anyone, and you are free to decline our advice, legal and otherwise, if you so choose.

“Tough advocacy” means we are fully committed to negotiate on your behalf in a strong and confident fashion, and to mediate, arbitrate, and/or litigate in the same manner.  We use the “Getting to Yes” philosophy, which urges all people to be tough on the merits of the dispute, soft on the people in the dispute, and principled in our negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and litigation approaches.  We always seek validation of our client’s and the other side’s factual assertion, whether financially or otherwise.  We don’t take people’s word for it:  we trust yet verify.  Before we go to any process to resolve your legal matter, we are fully prepared with the facts and law, and we make sure that you are well prepared for the same.  We practice with you and coach you until you feel confident about the process we are about to enter.  We are strong coaches, guides, and advocates for our clients.  While we cannot guarantee results, we are often successful in obtaining our clients’ desired outcomes.

Our Services

Attorney Hanan M. Isaacs, our Founding Partner, started the firm in 1981, principally serving Central Jersey clients in family law and general civil and criminal law matters. Today, we provide experienced representation in federal, state, local, for-profit, non-profit, and union matters for workers; family law cases of most types; and general civil litigation and criminal defense litigation.

In addition to his litigation work, Hanan has close to 40 years of experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He represents family law, employment law, and general civil law clients in mediation and arbitration.  He also serves as a mediator and arbitrator.

In 2012, Misty A.V. Avallone joined the firm as an attorney and is licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  Misty became a partner of the firm in 2019.

Her areas of practice include family law, employment law for workers, mediation, and general civil litigation.

As of January 1, 2019, the law firm goes by the name Kingston Law Group.  We remain at the same location with the same phone number, office hours, and support personnel.
